TheGastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit is a dynamic, patient focused unit. We prideourselves in being innovative, forward thinking and up to date with technologyand change.
TheGastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit undertakes 14,000+ diagnosticand interventional endoscopy procedures per year and provides othergastrointestinal services to the Canterbury population.
Itis also a secondary and tertiary referral service for the South Island, with astrong research programme that is recognised internationally, in addition to anactive undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching programme.
Mostof our nursing team, work in the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit; apurpose-built facility with eight procedure rooms andtwo recovery areas across two floors. The service also providesspecialist endoscopy nursing support to other areas of the ChristchurchHospital campus such as Waipapa, Parkside Operating Theatres, InterventionalRadiology, and ICU. The endoscopy unit is operational Monday to Friday, with anafter-hours on-call nursing service.
