Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Counties Manukau is seeking an experienced 2IC Sonographer to join the dynamic ultrasound service at Middlemore Hospital and Manukau Health Park. You will lead and supervise Sonographers and Trainee Sonographers, ensuring safe, high-quality imaging across general, obstetrics, vascular and paediatric exams.
The role requires a DMU, PGDipHSc (Ultrasound) or equivalent, NZ MRTB registration, and a minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience.

About the Role
As a 2IC Sonographer at Counties Manukau District, you will provide high-quality sonography services to our hugely diverse multicultural community, while also supporting the leadership and day-to-day operation of the Ultrasound service.
You will have the opportunity to perform a broad variety of examinations including general, obstetrics and gynaecology, small parts, musculoskeletal, paediatric, neonatal and vascular examinations.
As the 2IC, you will provide supervision and leadership to Sonographers and Trainee Sonographers in the absence of, and in conjunction with, the Ultrasound Team Leader. You will contribute to ensuring a safe, effective and high-quality service, while supporting staff development, education and clinical practice.
There is a wealth of collective experience within the team, providing a multidisciplinary approach in a supportive, mentoring and training environment.
About the Team / Service / Location
Our team of Sonographers provides both an inpatient and outpatient service across two locations Middlemore Hospital, an 800-bed acute hospital, and Manukau Health Park.
The Ultrasound team is committed to providing excellent clinical care while supporting ongoing professional development, education and service improvement.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Sonographer who can demonstrate strong clinical and leadership skills and who is committed to delivering excellent patient care.
You will have:
Previous leadership or senior clinical experience would be advantageous.
