Job summary

King's College in Auckland seeks dedicated, student-focused registered teachers to join the Learning Centre team. We have two 1-year fixed-term positions for Years 9–11, providing targeted literacy and numeracy support and classroom assistance.

The role requires strong literacy and numeracy skills, a caring approach, and experience with diverse learning needs. Collaborative team environment with professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Fully registered teacher with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience supporting Years 9–11 learners in learning support.
• Ability to work with students with diverse needs and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group literacy and numeracy support.
• Teach small Learning Centre classes and provide in-class support.
• Help students develop routines, organisation, confidence and self-advocacy.
• Implement Individual Education Plans and suitable adjustments.
• Support assessment and examination accommodations as required.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote inclusive learning.

King's College is seeking dedicated, student-focused registered teachers to join our dynamic Learning Centre team. We have 2 1-year fixed-term positions available, supporting students in Years 9 to 11 who require additional assistance with literacy, numeracy and learning skills.

What we’re looking for:

• A qualified and registered teacher with strong literacy and numeracy skills; primary, intermediate or secondary teaching backgrounds are welcome.
• A caring, patient and empathetic approach, with a genuine commitment to helping students overcome barriers to learning.
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs and abilities, including neurodiversity or additional learning needs.
• The ability to build positive relationships and create a safe, encouraging and student-centred learning environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with students, families, classroom teachers and wider College staff.
• A creative and adaptable approach to teaching, making learning accessible and engaging.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group literacy and numeracy support.
• Teaching small Learning Centre classes and providing in-class support.
• Helping students develop effective learning routines, organisation, confidence and self-advocacy.
• Implementing Individual Education Plans, learning strategies and appropriate adjustments.
• Supporting assessment and examination accommodations where required.
• Collaborating with teachers, heads of department, housemasters and other college staff to promote inclusive learning.

Experience or training in learning support, special education, educational psychology, neurodiversity or a related field would be advantageous.
