We are looking for a Technical Product Owner

We are looking for an engineer with a strong technical backbone and a delivery mindset as Technical Product Owner (TPO) for our Mariner family of sea drones (Mariner and Mariner X).

In this role, you will own the technical specification, product baseline, design and engineering change decisions, compliance, and the delivery plan for every build and new mark. You will play a key role in advancing the Mariner platform into fully certified solutions that meet current and future maritime regulations.

The position requires a solid engineering background and the judgment to balance commercial milestones against technical integrity. As part of our dedicated Mariner product team—working alongside the Product Manager, Systems Integration Lead, Electrical & Automation Engineer, and Mechanical Engineers—you will serve as the technical anchor. While the Product Manager owns what the market needs, you own what we build and how it holds up. You are responsible for the technical baseline used in production, ensuring our platforms consistently meet customer expectations for quality and reliability. In doing so, you will collaborate closely with Sales, Production, Procurement, Service, and Compliance.

Your key responsibilities

Own the technical specification and product baseline, driving design and engineering change decisions in close partnership with the Product Manager and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Lead the end-to-end technical delivery plan for new builds and marks—coordinating procurement, long-lead items, and FAT/SAT milestones, while interfacing with the Production Lead who handles day-to-day shop floor execution.

Drive compliance and certification, ensuring platforms meet DNV, CE, class, flag state, and cyber/safety requirements (e.g., WBC3).

Champion testing, verification, and delivery, maintaining delivery Jira boards, driving software test cycles and hardware trials, and overseeing customer acceptance testing (HAT/SAT).

Maintain complete product and system documentation, including the standard USV definition, system specifications, BOMs, functional descriptions, manuals, and payload integration guides.

Manage lifecycle and obsolescence communication, ensuring technical bulletins, critical updates, and end-of-life (EOL) notices are systematically shared with Service, Delivery, and clients.

Promote operational excellence and compliance, actively mitigating technical debt, reporting non-conformities, and driving continuous improvement.

Relevant expertise in this role

Engineering degree (BSc or Master) within mechanical, electrical, marine/naval engineering, cybernetics, or similar. Relevant practical experience may compensate for formal education.

Experience with technical ownership of complex physical products, including configuration management, BOMs, revisions and change control.

Understanding of maritime rules, standards and certification (DNV, class, flag and CE).

Background from boat and vessel building, offshore, marine equipment or autonomous systems is highly valued.

Familiarity with FAT/SAT procedures and acceptance criteria is an advantage.

Experience with Jira and with follow-up of external production and suppliers is a plus, but not required.

As an international company, we require fluency in both Norwegian and English.

This role is a great fit if you

Structured and decisive in your approach to priorities, execution, and ownership.

Skilled at navigating the tension between tight delivery schedules and uncompromised technical integrity.

Systems thinker who commands the full multidisciplinary picture—mechanical, electrical, integration, and software—empowering the team without micromanaging.

A clear, direct communicator who connects seamlessly across disciplines, from hands-on production and suppliers to commercial teams and customers.

Since 2005, Maritime Robotics has pioneered and led the development of advanced sea drones (Uncrewed Surface Vessels USVs) and maritime autonomy. Our core technology, the autonomous navigation system (ANS), enables safe and efficient remote and autonomous operations at sea.

These robotic solutions are vital for precise seabed mapping, ocean research, securing marine infrastructure, and operations in challenging environments. Globally deployed ANS and USVs contribute to sustainable, efficient, and safe maritime navigation, minimizing fuel use. In today’s world, our technology is also crucial for protecting communities and assets. We see growing demand from defence, security, hydrography, marine construction, and the energy sector.
