Job description

We are seeking a strategic CPO to build, shape, and lead our new Products Department Sted: Trondheim

Since 2005, Maritime Robotics has pioneered and led the development of advanced sea drones (Uncrewed Surface Vessels USVs) and maritime autonomy. Our core technology, the autonomous navigation system (ANS), enables safe and efficient remote and autonomous operations at sea.

These robotic solutions are vital for precise seabed mapping, ocean research, securing marine infrastructure, and operations in challenging environments. Globally deployed ANS and USVs contribute to sustainable, efficient, and safe maritime navigation, minimizing fuel use. In today’s world, our technology is also crucial for protecting communities and assets. We see growing demand from defence, security, hydrography, marine construction, and the energy sector.

We are establishing a dedicated Products Department as a central milestone in our growth and transformation into a scalable product company. To build, shape, and lead this function, we are looking for an experienced Chief Product Officer (CPO) with a strong commercial mindset.

As CPO, you will define our portfolio strategy, ensuring our uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) and autonomy solutions deliver maximum value across our three core segments: Security & Defence, Offshore Energy, and Survey & Science.

In this executive role, you will report directly to the CEO and work in close partnership with Technology, Operations, and Commercial teams to standardise and scale our offerings.

  • Build and lead the new Products organization, establishing unified product management practices across all industry segments
  • Drive portfolio strategy and lifecycle management, balancing customer value, financial performance, and technical feasibility
  • Combine market intelligence, competitive trends, and operational field data to inform strategic roadmap decisions
  • Champion the end-to‑end user and operator experience across hardware, software, and remote operations
  • Mentor and lead segment product managers, setting clear priorities and fostering cross‑functional alignment
  • Shape go‑to‑market and pricing strategies, expanding recurring revenue models across software, data, and services
  • Partner with Technology and Operations to transition bespoke solutions into standard, series-delivered offerings
  • Ensure the portfolio roadmap anticipates evolving maritime regulations, certifications, and compliance standards
Relevant expertise in this role:
  • Higher education in engineering, business, or technology management (relevant practical track record can compensate for formal degrees)
  • Solid background leading product management or strategy for complex systems, ideally bridging hardware and software
  • Proven experience guiding offerings from bespoke project delivery into standardised, scalable product lines
  • Demonstrated commercial success in B2B or B2G environments, connecting roadmaps to revenue growth and healthy margins
  • Domain knowledge or strong interest in maritime, ocean space, offshore, or defence technologies
  • Professional proficiency in English; Norwegian is a strong advantage
  • Eligibility for Norwegian security clearance
Who are you, then?
  • A strategic leader who stays grounded in real‑world customer operations and field realities
  • A collaborative bridge‑builder who naturally creates trust and shared ownership across commercial, operational, and technical teams
  • Decisive and pragmatic when prioritizing competing demands and balancing rapid delivery with long‑term scalability
  • An open, transparent communicator who can align diverse stakeholders around a clear vision
  • Energized by our core values: Innovate! Enable! Deliver!
  • Open to domestic and international travel to stay close to customers, field trials, and industry partners
What we offer
  • A stimulating and dynamic work environment at the forefront of innovative maritime technology.
  • A meaningful job with an important social mission. The autonomy we create ensures sustainable, efficient, and safe ocean space operations worldwide
  • A collaborative and growing team of passionate and highly competent professionals.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and skill development.
  • A comprehensive and well‑organized benefits package.
  • A strong sense of community, plenty of humour, and social activities that bind us together in a busy everyday life.

This employment may require security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority and is subject to background check.
