Maritime Robotics AS seeks an experienced HSEQ Manager to own and develop the company’s integrated management system across Health, Safety, Environment and Quality. You will safeguard compliance, refine frameworks, and embed practical routines into day-to-day operations.
This hands-on role coordinates audits, risk assessments, root-cause investigations, and supplier qualification while bridging management, engineering, production, and field testing. Based in Trondheim with travel.
The HSEQ Manager will own and develop the company's integrated management system across Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality.
We design, manufacture, and operate sea drones (USVs) and autonomous data-acquisition systems that perform mission-critical operations in demanding ocean environments worldwide. As we scale serial production, expand our international fleet, and deliver to leading commercial and defense clients, we need our HSEQ systems and operational safeguards to scale with the same precision, reliability, and speed
We are now looking for an experienced HSEQ Manager to take ownership of our integrated management system across Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality. In this role, you will safeguard compliance, refine existing frameworks, and embed practical, high-impact routines directly into day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role bridging management, engineering, production, project delivery, and field testing. As our dedicated HSEQ resource, you will coordinate audits, facilitate risk assessments, drive root-cause investigations, and translate regulatory and standard requirements into lean, functional operational practices.
Own and develop the HSEQ management system: Maintain and continually improve our ISO 9001-aligned framework, ensuring digital workflows, routines, and operational documentation are active, accessible, and utilized across the company.
Lead internal and external audits: Plan, execute, and follow up on certification audits, customer-driven assessments, management reviews, and third-party verifications, driving effective closeout of findings.
Drive continuous improvement and operational feedback: Supervise nonconformity handling (NCR),customer feedback loops, root cause analyses (RCA), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to mitigate operational and product risk.
Oversee systematic HSE activities: Maintain oversight of risk assessments (SJA/HAZID), workplace safety protocols, environmental impact initiatives, and compliance with the Norwegian Working Environment Act (Arbeidsmiljøloven) and internal control regulations (Internkontrollforskriften).
Support customer, project, and supply chain qualification: Assist tender and project teams with HSEQ documentation, supplier pre-qualifications, and vendor audits, while coaching team leads on maintaining safety and quality ownership in daily delivery.
Higher education (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in engineering, quality management, safety/HSE, or a related discipline.Substantial relevant experience and industry certifications may compensate for formal education.
Hands-on experience in quality, HSE, or integrated HSEQ management, preferably from maritime systems, subsea, defense, or high-tech manufacturing.
Solid practical competence with ISO 9001, including management systems, auditing, nonconformity management, and structured CAPA processes.
Thorough working knowledge of Norwegian HSE legislation, regulatory reporting, and systematic internal control frameworks.
Familiarity with adjacent standards and frameworks such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO/IEC 27001, AQAP 2110, CE marking/product compliance, or maritime class rules (e.g., DNV) is an advantage.
Certified Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor credentials, or eagerness to qualify.
Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English and Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language).
Pragmatic and structured: You design scalable, clear processes without bogging the team down in red tape. You know how to make compliance intuitive and usable.
Accountable and proactive: You take ownership of initiatives, drive them independently, and build momentum without needing micromanagement.
Constructively challenging: You possess the professional integrity to challenge established habits, ask probing questions, and stop unsafe or sub-par practices when necessary.
A persuasive communicator: You build trust across software developers, hardware technicians, production staff, and management, leading by influence rather than formal authority.
Detail-oriented with commercial awareness: You spot critical discrepancies early, understanding how safety, product reliability, and brand reputation directly drive business performance.
Aligned with our core values: You approach everyday challenges with enthusiasm, resilience, and commitment to Innovate! Enable! Deliver!
Since 2005, Maritime Robotics has pioneered and led the development of advanced sea drones (Uncrewed Surface Vessels USVs) and maritime autonomy. Our core technology, the autonomous navigation system (ANS), enables safe and efficient remote and autonomous operations at sea.
These robotic solutions are vital for precise seabed mapping, ocean research, securing marine infrastructure, and operations in challenging environments. Globally deployed ANS and USVs contribute to sustainable, efficient, and safe maritime navigation, minimizing fuel use. In today’s world, our technology is also crucial for protecting communities and assets. We see growing demand from defence, security, hydrography, marine construction, and the energy sector.
