Job summary

DNV’s Maritime Advisory team seeks a motivated Summer student for Safety, Risk & Reliability. You will join project teams on safety and risk in the maritime industry, using data to identify trends and drive improvements, and turning complex information into clear summaries and visuals.

You’ll explore how new technologies, greener shipping, and AutoRemote affect safety while gaining valuable consulting experience in a global, diverse environment.

Qualifications

  • Master student in one of the listed specializations.
  • Basic ship knowledge or interest in maritime tech.
  • Good English; Norwegian is a plus.
  • Interest in consulting and teamwork.

About The Role

Maritime Advisory helps customers unlock the full potential of their assets, designs, and operations through expert advice and industry-leading insight. In Safety, Risk & Reliability, we deliver risk assessments, safety studies, and advisory services that support safe and sustainable maritime solutions, from decarbonization to AutoRemote and data driven operations.

Typical tasks as a Summer student in Safety, Risk & Reliability would be:
  • Joining project teams working on safety and risk in the maritime industry.
  • Use data to spot trends, improvements, and possible risk drivers.
  • Turn technical information into clear summaries, visuals, and recommendations.
  • Explore how new technologies, greener shipping, and AutoRemote operations affect safety.

About You
Who are we looking for?
  • You are motivated, curious, and interested in exploring consulting as a possible career path.
  • You have basic ship knowledge and an interest in maritime technology, design, or operations.
  • You enjoy asking questions, solving problems, and working with others.
  • You communicate well in English; Norwegian is a plus.
  • You may have experience with data, programming, or visualization tools, but this is not required.
We are primarily seeking 3rd and 4th year students with relevant Master Program specialization in:
  • Marine Technology / Naval Architecture
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Safety, Risk and Reliability Engineering
  • Industrial Economics with a technical maritime profile
