Water Linked is offering a 6-week paid Summer Internship 2027 in Trondheim, focused on automation in production. You’ll join the production team to explore how automation, AI and machine learning can streamline processes, improve precision and cut manual work.
You’ll be guided by experienced operators and engineers while designing hardware or software solutions, or both, and you’ll gain practical hands-on experience on real water‑sensor projects.
Robotics, AI and automation are changing how things are made, and we want to make the most of it. As a part of Water Linked's Summer Internship, you'll join our production team and help us explore how automation and AI can make our production simpler, smarter and more efficient. Building advanced underwater sensors takes precision, and some of our production steps are still done by hand. We believe technology can make them easier and better, and your job is to help us figure out how.
We believe in fostering a strong learning environment where you can apply your academic knowledge to a real project, all while being guided by experienced operators and engineers. As an intern, you could be mapping how things are done today, spotting where automation, machine learning and AI could make the biggest difference, and helping design and build a solution, whether that's hardware, software or a bit of both.
In addition to a unique learning experience, Water Linked is proud to be part of Workation, a summer job program in Trondheim featuringparticipating companies. As an intern, you’ll get free access to a variety of exciting activities, such as the Høyt & Lavt climbing park, Escape Rooms, and beer tastings at ØX. The Workation program is the perfect opportunity to expand your professional network while having fun and make new friends along the way.
At Water Linked, we’re on a mission to redefine the underwater acoustics industry. In 2023, we were selected as part of NATO's DIANA accelerator program and ranked #35 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 list of fastest-growing tech companies. By joining us, you’ll be part of an innovative company committed to research and development, with a disruptive nature that keeps us ahead of the curve.
Our technology is used across over 50 countries by industries ranging from underwater robotics and academia to energy and defense. At Water Linked, your summer will be filled with exciting challenges, learning opportunities, and a chance to make a tangible impact.
The combination of theoretical and practical work here is truly unique. Getting hands-on experience while collaborating with experienced engineers was invaluable.
There’s so much potential in underwater technology. It’s fun to work with, and you’re solving real problems. Things robots can do that humans can’t.
If you're a curious, practical problem-solver who enjoys combining code and hardware to make things work better, you might be just the person we're looking for! We're seeking students enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's programs in Cybernetics and Robotics, Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Science or related fields. Most of all, we're looking for someone creative and hands-on who likes understanding how systems fit together and isn't afraid to share their ideas.
Every summer, our interns work on real projects that make a difference to our products and the way we work. The projects vary from year to year and across teams, but they always combine theory with hands-on work, and give interns plenty of responsibility and close collaboration with experienced colleagues.

Here, we were given a lot of freedom to shape and develop the projects in the direction we wanted. If that kind of freedom is something you find motivating, then I would absolutely recommend it
