Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking a Technical Data Specialist - Subsurface Data Management for a contract from 02.11.2026 to 30.09.2027 in Stavanger. You will identify, collect, structure and curate field interpreted G&G data in Petrel Studio databases, review folder structures, and enforce metadata standards to support controlled storage and reuse.

The role requires hands-on data management across G&G interpretation data, data quality control, data lineage and life-cycle management, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Higher education in geology, geophysics or subsurface data management.
• Hands-on experience with subsurface data management and G&G interpretation data.
• Strong experience with Petrel and Petrel Studio, including data loading and validation.
• Experience with interpreted subsurface data (horizons, faults, surfaces, wells).
• Proficiency in English; Norwegian language beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Identify, collect, structure and curate field interpreted G&G data in Petrel Studio databases.
• Review and improve Petrel Studio folder structures for metadata, access and reuse.
• Perform data quality control for completeness, consistency and validity.
• Apply naming conventions, metadata requirements and data management standards.
• Establish data lineage, provenance, ownership and context.
• Prepare data for ingestion into OSDU.
• Support data discovery, loading, validation and transfer across repositories.
• Provide operational support and coordinate corrective actions.
• Collaborate with G&G disciplines, DBS projects and external partners.
