Job summary

Procore Technologies is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer (C++) to join its Product & Technology Team in our Norway location. You will shape the architecture and backend systems powering Procore’s BIM and construction management platform.

You’ll lead high-performance services in C++/Rust, design distributed systems, mentor engineers, and partner with product, frontend, and operations teams to deliver scalable APIs and reliable infrastructure at global scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional backend experience with production systems.
• Strong expertise in modern C++ (C++17/20+), memory management, concurrency, and performance.
• Experience building distributed systems and microservices at scale.
• Deep knowledge of multithreading, networking, and asynchronous programming.
• Experience with REST/gRPC APIs and service-oriented architecture.
• Experience with containerized environments and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience operating at scale with thousands of hosts and millions of users.
• Ability to drive long-term architectural strategy and manage risks.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines and improving developer productivity.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of high-performance backend systems for BIM and construction tech.
• Architect scalable distributed services aligned with microservices architecture.
• Own initiatives from concept to production with focus on reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with Product, Frontend, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to deliver robust APIs.
• Promote engineering best practices in design, testing, and observability.
• Drive architectural decisions for enterprise-scale customers globally.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and provide design guidance.
• Contribute to CI/CD, observability, and operations for backend services.
