Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN seeks a Senior Tooling Engineer to advance tooling methods and production systems for aerospace manufacturing. You will design, calculate, prepare, document, and verify tooling, while developing tooling techniques and qualifying new tools to meet requirements.

Responsibilities include driving Lean-based production improvements, deploying advanced tooling options, and ensuring tooling resources are available and maintained. International travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; minimum 5 years of tooling experience in a manufacturing environment; 10+ years preferred.
• Driven, innovative and takes initiative.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Catia, SolidWorks, or similar modeling skills desirable.
• Ability to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of production systems and working methods, influencing the design work to achieve low production costs without compromising function, safety and quality.
• Develop new technical solutions and contribute to the development of efficient production systems and assembly lines based on Lean principles.
• Deploy advanced tooling options where they can be effectively leveraged.
• Ensure the accurate and timely tooling resources are available for the operation, supported by processes to ensure tooling maintenance and calibration.
• Drive continuous improvement for tooling resources and processes.
• Work collaboratively with Swedish tooling resources to deliver tooling solutions.
