You will design, implement, and optimize Elasticsearch's core storage and query engine, working on high-performance, scalable database and distributed systems with a focus on storage, indexing, and performance.

Qualifications

• Strong Java skills with understanding of concurrency primitives.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural evolution of core storage engine components and optimize performance.
• Drive cross-organizational initiatives for observability solutions.
• Collaborate with globally distributed team focusing on logs and metrics in Elasticsearch.
• Promote clean coding standards and architectural clarity across the platform.
• Serve as SME and mentor to wider engineering organization.
• Triage, review issues, and collaborate on pull requests with domain experts.
• Write idiomatic modern Java (Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java).
