Elastic is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch – Search Infra team. You will define, lead, and contribute to the evolution of core search and indexing capabilities, shaping the long‑term vision for the platform.

You will work across distributed teams, mentor engineers, and drive the roadmap for indexing, retrieval, and relevance with a focus on high performance and scalability.

Qualifications

• Experience leading projects in search infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Mentor engineers and guide technical direction across teams.
• Define a long‑term technical vision for core search or retrieval systems.
• Hands‑on with Elasticsearch, Lucene, or Solr and strong Java skills.
• Autonomous, capable of delivering concepts to production components.

Responsibilities
