Job summary

wheel.me in Oslo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own developer experience across robotics software, from robot to cloud. You will manage CI/CD pipelines, build systems, automated testing, and release automation.

Join an international team building the Genius autonomous wheel and scaling the platform with modern tooling, reproducible builds, and quality gates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production software experience and CI/CD/build systems.
• Experience with containerized builds, caching and parallel jobs.
• Automated testing at unit/integration/system levels and release automation.
• Familiarity with Linux, Docker/Kubernetes, Terraform and AWS.
• Embedded Linux build experience (Yocto, RAUC).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and internal tools across the stack.
• Support test frameworks for on-target and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Automate releases and ensure reproducible builds.
• Add quality gates and static analysis to pull requests.
• Track build times and flaky tests, and reduce build times.
• Standardize monorepo conventions with the tech teams.

About the role

This is a hands-on role owning developer experience across our robotics software, from robot to cloud: CI/CD pipelines, build systems, automated testing, static analysis, quality gates and release automation.

What you will do

• Build and maintain pipelines and internal tools across the stack
• Support test frameworks for on-target and hardware-in-the-loop testing
• Automate releases and make builds reproducible
• Add quality gates and static analysis to pull requests
• Track build times and flaky tests, and reduce build times
• Standardize monorepo conventions together with the tech teams

What we are looking for

- 5+ years with production software, CI/CD and build systems

- C/C++ CI experience (containerized builds, caching, parallel jobs)

- Test automation at unit, integration and system level, plus release automation

- Familiarity with Linux, Docker/Kubernetes, Terraform and AWS

- Embedded Linux build experience (Yocto, RAUC)

Nice to have

Hardware-in-the-loop testing, Azure, ROS 1/2, CAN bus, MQTT, gRPC, Gazebo or RViz, and Rust for microcontrollers.
