Job summary

Vizrt, based in Bergen, Norway, is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our backend team. You will develop high‑performance video processing components in modern C++ and contribute to the architecture and long‑term direction of Vizrt’s core technologies.

You will work with colleagues across multiple countries on graphics, video processing, transcoding, and live production workflows, with opportunities for technical leadership and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent skills and experience.
• Software engineering experience with modern C++.
• Experience with Python and/or C#, or interest in working with the languages.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience troubleshooting, profiling, and improving complex software systems.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Good communication and team-working skills.
• Experience with video processing, codecs, transcoding or multimedia frameworks is an advantage, but not a requirement.

You will join the team responsible for developing high-performance video processing components used across several of Vizrt’s products, including our real-time graphics, sports analysis, and media asset management solutions. The team works on core technology for processing, transcoding, and handling professional video in demanding production environments.

As a senior engineer, you will work hands-on with modern C++to develop and evolve these components. You will solve challenging technical problems involving performance, reliability, and efficient processing of video and media, while contributing to the architecture and long‑term direction of the technology.

You will be part of a broader backend engineering environment responsible for several of Vizrt’s core technologies. Depending on product priorities and your interests, there may also be opportunities to contribute to other backend components, including the Vizrt Media Sequencer,a core platform used to control graphics, video, and other media in live production workflows.

We are looking for engineers who enjoy understanding complex systems, solving difficult technical problems, and building reliable software that operates in performance‑critical environments.

You will identify bottlenecks and bugs, design and implement new functionality, and help improve the performance, reliability, and maintainability of our software. You will work closely with experienced colleagues across multiple countries and teams, and your contributions will directly affect products used by broadcasters and content creators around the world.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent skills and experience
• Software engineering experience with modern C++
• Experience with Python and/or C#, or interest in working with the languages
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
• Experience troubleshooting, profiling, and improving complex software systems
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles and best practices
• Experience with automated testing
• Experience collaborating across teams, mentoring colleagues, or contributing to technical decision‐making
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Good communication and team‑working skills
• Experience with video processing, video codecs, transcoding, or multimedia frameworks is an advantage, but not a requirement.
