Job summary

NACOS Marine in Norway seeks a Senior Software Developer, Automation Platform, to lead architecture and drive scalable, real-time platform solutions across sites.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Product and Program Management, and design modular, future-ready automation capabilities for vessels worldwide. Fluent English required; Bachelor's or Master’s in a technical field.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the architecture for NACOS Marine's next-generation automation platform, ensuring scalability, modularity, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
• Design and implement advanced automation platform solutions for maritime applications, balancing performance, reliability, and operational requirements.
• Lead platform architecture decisions, including technology selection, architectural trade-offs, and system design principles.
• Evaluate, validate, and integrate new technologies, tools, and development methodologies to continuously improve platform capabilities.
• Provide architectural leadership and technical guidance to cross-functional development teams across multiple locations.
• Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and design workshops to ensure alignment across engineering teams.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management and Program Management to ensure architectural decisions support business objectives, delivery milestones, and product strategy.
• Develop and maintain technical architecture documentation, ensuring traceability from requirements through implementation.
• Mentor software engineers and architects, promoting best practices, code quality, and technical excellence.
• Promote modern software engineering practices, including developer productivity tools, automation, and continuous improvement.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer, Automation Platform (m/f/d) to play a leading role in defining and developing the next generation of NACOS Marine's automation platform.

In this strategic role, you will drive the architecture of a scalable, modular, and future-ready marine automation platform that supports vessel automation projects worldwide. Working closely with Product Management, Program Management, and multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple locations, you will translate business and technical requirements into robust platform architecture while mentoring development teams and driving technical excellence throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial or process automation, including experience in system architecture or technical leadership
• Proven experience designing distributed, real-time automation platforms and software architectures
• Strong knowledge of automation systems, runtime environments, configuration management, and hardware/software integration
• Proficiency in C/C++ and C# for automation platform development
• Experience with Git-based version control and modern software development practices
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and scalable platform development
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical direction across multidisciplinary teams
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to balance technical quality, business needs, and delivery objectives
• Passion for innovation, emerging technologies, and assisted software development
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
