Job summary

NACOS Marine is seeking an experienced Backend Developer (m/f/d) to join our R&D team. You will design and develop safety-critical backend software for embedded controllers, communication protocols, and platform components powering vessels worldwide.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions for maritime automation, with emphasis on performance, memory efficiency, and real-time operation. Fluent English is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of embedded C/C++ software development experience.
Proven経験 implementing communication protocol stacks (UART, SPI, I2C, Profinet, TCP/IP, Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT).
Strong knowledge of microcontroller architectures, DMA, interrupts, and low-level drivers.
Experience with embedded cybersecurity concepts (secure boot, encrypted comms, access control).
Familiarity with Git and modern CI/CD practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and teamwork.
Excellent communication in English.

Responsibilities

Develop embedded backend software in C/C++ for microcontrollers with real-time constraints.
Design and maintain protocol stacks for various interfaces and standards.
Develop transport, session, and application layer functionality with state machines and framing.
Optimize timing, latency, throughput, and resource usage.
Integrate firmware with hardware interfaces and low-level drivers.
Ensure compliance with maritime, industrial, and cybersecurity standards.
Produce and maintain technical documentation throughout the lifecycle.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in code reviews.
