Job summary

HAMNØY AS is coordinating recruitment for a Naval Architect role in partnership with Kongsberg Maritime. The position focuses on ship design leadership, development of general arrangements, and technical documentation for complex vessels.

The candidate will engage with owners, yards, and classification societies to align on market trends, regulatory requirements, and bid scenarios while contributing to innovations in offshore, navy, and unmanned vessels.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering field.
• Ideally 5 years of relevant experience from a shipyard, classification society, or consultancy.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; interest in 3D tools (Revit), visualization (Rhino), or CFD (Star-CCM+) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design leadership: act as design responsible for customer projects and R&D programs, managing teams as needed.
• Technical development: take primary responsibility for general arrangements, vessel specs and performance docs from initial meetings to contract.
• Engage with ship owners, yards, and classification societies to understand market trends and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to bid/no-bid evaluations and provide technical tender documentation.
• Drive technological evolution in offshore, navy, and unmanned vessels.
