Wallenius Wilhelmsen is seeking a Senior Manager, PMO to lead the Shipping Services portfolio and oversee a small team of Project Leaders at the Oslo headquarters. The role focuses on driving complex initiatives, coordinating multiple functions, and delivering value through disciplined project governance.
The role requires extensive PM experience, strong stakeholder engagement, and a hands‑on approach to execution. Global responsibilities with international travel are expected.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is a global market leader in roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) shipping and vehicle logistics, managing the distribution of cars, trucks, rolling equipment, and breakbulk across the world.

We are now looking for a Senior Manager, Project Management Office (PMO) to join the Operational Excellence management team within Shipping Services.
Operational Excellence works across Shipping to improve operational performance, efficiency, costs, and emissions through performance management, process and quality improvement, digitalization, analytics, and project execution.
As Senior Manager, PMO, you will take a leading role in driving complex and strategically important projects across Shipping Services. The projects typically involve multiple functions and senior stakeholders, and you will have significant responsibility for structuring the work, mobilizing the right resources, driving progress, and ensuring successful implementation and value realization.
Alongside your project leadership responsibilities, you will contribute to managing and prioritizing the Shipping project portfolio and provide management with transparency and decision support across key initiatives.
An important part of the role will also be to act as a key interface between Shipping and the central Digital organization. You will help ensure that Shipping’s priorities and business needs are well represented, bring together the right subject matter expertise from the organization, and support effective implementation of digital initiatives across Shipping.
You will manage and develop a small team of Project Leaders and contribute to building a strong project management environment within Shipping - with the ambition of establishing the PMO as a trusted and valued partner for complex initiatives across the organization.
The role is global and based at Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s headquarters in Oslo. Some international travel should be expected.
Identify and develop new opportunities into well‑defined business cases and projects.
Manage and prioritize the Shipping project portfolio together with the Shipping management team and key stakeholders, with a particular focus on digital, analytics, and operational improvement initiatives.
Provide transparency and decision support through clear reporting on progress, timelines, costs, risks, resource requirements, and value creation across the portfolio.
Lead selected high‑impact projects from ideation through implementation and value realization, including initiatives related to digitalization and operational improvement.
Build and develop a strong Project Leadership capability in Shipping, including managing a small team of Project Leaders and establishing effective project management practices.
Support project owners in implementing change and realizing sustainable business value.
Serve as a trusted advisor to Shipping management and project owners on business cases, project governance, prioritization, resource allocation, and cost control.
Act as a key interface between Shipping, Digital, and other functions to align business needs with technology opportunities and contribute to the successful delivery of cross‑functional initiatives.
We are looking for an experienced project or program leader with a strong track record of driving complex initiatives and a structured, hands‑on approach to execution.
You are comfortable taking ownership of a project, creating structure and direction, and driving it forward in an environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. You combine strong project management skills with sound business judgment and the ability to build relationships and create commitment across functions and organizational levels.
The role involves significant interaction with senior stakeholders, and you should be confident communicating recommendations, challenging when needed, and creating alignment around a way forward.
We believe you will bring:
5+ years of relevant experience as a project or program leader, with a proven track record in project and/or project portfolio management.
In-depth knowledge and practical experience applying project management methodologies.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and resources simultaneously.
The ability to identify potential risks and take appropriate measures to mitigate them before they negatively impact projects.
Experience with and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
The ability to create followership through clear communication, providing direction, motivation, and support.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, combined with an interest in using AI tools to improve productivity and insights.
Relevant higher education, preferably within business, organizational sciences, engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience from shipping, logistics, consulting, or a similar environment would be an advantage.
