Job summary

Kongsberg Maritime is seeking a Development Engineer to join the Drives R&D team in Bergen to develop, test, and improve high-power drive control solutions for maritime propulsion. You will work with system engineers, hardware, software, and product teams to deliver robust control solutions for vessels and offshore installations.

Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of drive control systems, power electronics, and electric motors.
  • Experience with testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or lifecycle support of complex systems.
  • Knowledge of marine applications like propulsion, thrusters, onboard power, or hybrid energy.
  • Professional and personal development through training programs and mentoring.

Job description

Develop, test, and improve drive control systems for marine power and propulsion applications at Kongsberg Maritime.

We are looking for a skilled Development Engineer to join our Drives R&D team, with a strong focus on drive control systems for marine power and propulsion applications. In this role, you will contribute to the development, improvement, testing, and lifecycle support of control solutions for high-power drive systems used in demanding maritime operations.

Working closely with system engineers, hardware specialists, software developers, product teams, and field support, you will help ensure that our drive control systems are robust, reliable, and well adapted to marine vessels, offshore installations, and other safety-critical maritime applications.

Key responsibilities

  • Experience working with testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or lifecycle support of complex technical systems.
  • Knowledge of, or experience from, marine applications such as propulsion systems, thrusters, onboard power systems, hybrid energy solutions, or offshore operations.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across software, hardware, automation, product, and service disciplines.
