Job summary

Kongsberg Maritime is seeking a Development Engineer to join the Drives R&D team in Bergen to develop, test, and improve high-power drive control solutions for maritime propulsion. You will work with system engineers, hardware, software, and product teams to deliver robust control solutions for vessels and offshore installations.

You will contribute to verification, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support, while collaborating across disciplines to ensure reliability and safety in marine

Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of drive control systems, power electronics, and electric motors.
  • Experience with testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or lifecycle support of complex systems.
  • Knowledge of marine applications like propulsion, thrusters, onboard power, or hybrid energy.
  • Professional and personal development through training programs and mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and improve drive control system functionality for marine power and propulsion applications.
  • Work with control concepts, system behaviour, application logic, and performance optimisation for high-power drive systems.
  • Support the integration of drive control systems with vessel automation, energy management, power distribution, and related marine systems.
  • Participate in verification activities, troubleshooting, commissioning support, and root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure reliable, maintainable, and application-oriented solutions throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the development of future-oriented drive technologies supporting efficient and sustainable maritime operations.
