Job summary

Lace Lithography in Bergen is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead the automation layer for laboratory and production systems. You’ll design and implement robust industrial control solutions, coordinating PLCs, embedded devices, and higher-level software, while ensuring high reliability and fail-safe behavior.

You will collaborate with physicists, electrical engineers, and hardware developers to build scalable automation capable of operating in high‑reliability lab and semiconductor

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience delivering PLC-based automation systems through the full engineering lifecycle.
• Strong practical knowledge of PLC programming, interlocks, fault handling, and safe-state behavior.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the PLC-based automation layer for Lace’s instrumentation systems.
• Design, implement, test, and maintain PLC applications for equipment sequencing and fault handling.
• Build interfaces between PLC systems and higher-level software using industrial protocols and data models.
• Lead hands-on integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automated subsystems in Bergen lab.
• Establish automated testing and reliability improvements for the control system.
• Evaluate automation technologies and help define a pragmatic long-term roadmap.
