Job summary

MDE Group in Fornebu, Norway, seeks a Senior Project Engineer – Automation to lead multi-disciplinary teams delivering advanced automation solutions across energy and process industries, including offshore wind, hydropower, subsea, and power-from-shore projects.

You will plan, design, program, test, and commission automation systems, provide service for installed plants, and collaborate with sales to supply technical input.

Qualifications

• Degree in Automation or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in automation engineering.
• Experience with PLC/DCS programming and system integration.

We are currently looking for a Senior Project Engineer – Automation to join our team in Fornebu. In this role, you will work in multidisciplinary project teams, delivering high-quality automation solutions to customers across a range of industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary project teams.
• Plan, design, program, test, and commission automation systems.
• Provide service support and follow-up for existing customers and installed systems.
• Program and configure DCS/PLC controllers and HMI systems, including 800xA solutions.
• Collaborate with the sales organization by providing technical expertise and project input.
• Ensure projects are executed according to customer requirements, quality standards, and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Relevant vocational education may also be considered.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in automation engineering.
• Experience with PLC and/or DCS programming.
• Knowledge of communication protocols and integration between HMI and PLC systems, such as OPC, Profibus, Modbus, and Comli.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop practical solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Fluent in both Norwegian and English, written and spoken.
• Experience from energy, offshore, process, or industrial automation projects is an advantage.
