We are looking for an allrounder: a research coordinator to assist with tasks related to the NORA Research Schools, as well as tasks involving event organization, national and international research coordination activities and administrative tasks. You will be given the opportunity to build and strengthen Norwegian research and innovation within artificial intelligence - one of the most exciting and important research fields, mentioned as a priority area within Emergent and industrial technologies in Norway’s Long-Term Plan for Research and Higher Education.

Our goal is to strengthen Norwegian research, education, and innovation in AI, machine learning, and robotics, as well as other relevant fields within artificial intelligence. The NORA Secretariat consists of seven dedicated staff members with diverse cultural and academic backgrounds. The University of Oslo, through the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and dScience - Centre for Computational and Data Science - hosts NORA. Our workplace is at Blindern, Oslo.

Your main tasks will be

More about work tasks:

You will work closely with the CEO and the rest of the NORA secretariat. In particular, you will work closely with the Research Coordinator for the Research Schools and assist in the planning of research school events and their scientific content. You will also support the organization of NORA’s two main conferences and other national and international events. The tasks will be varied, and good collaboration skills are required. Some travelling must be expected.

Specific tasks will be:

• Assist in the planning of the content and execution of research school events as well as NORA’s two main conferences, NORA’s Annual Conference and the Nordic AI Meet
• Oversee logistics and execution of research school events
• Prepare material about the research schools and the research school events for publication online
• Invite speakers and provide guidance on presentation formats
• You may also assist in the preparation of grant proposals
• The position can be assigned other tasks

What skills are important in this role?

Qualification requirements:In this role you must have:

• A bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to AI, digitalisation, or data-driven research. Practical competence may replace the educational requirement
• Experience with research administration and coordination, or research school administration and coordination
• Experience organizing seminars, events, or conferences
• Very good oral and written presentation in English
• Good oral and written presentation in Norwegian

Desired qualifications:

• A PhD and research experience are an advantage
• Experience within the field of AI
• Knowledge of research funding from NFR and/or the EU's research programs
