Job summary

NTNU in Trondheim invites applications for a Professor in Ship Power and Maritime Energy System Design and Operation. The candidate will strengthen research and teaching in designing and integrating sustainable ship power systems, supporting energy transition and operation across vessels and fleets.

Qualifications

• Must meet the Norwegian regulations for appointment and promotion to teaching and research positions.
• Doctoral degree in marine technology, maritime engineering, electrical power engineering, or closely related field.
• Documented educational competence and ability to teach.
• Good communication skills and fluent in English, oral and written.
• Norwegian language skills at level B2 or commitment to achieve within three years.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise Master’s and PhD students.
• Initiate and lead national and international research projects.
• Conduct research on hybrid ship power system design, configuration, and integration.
• Develop data-driven and simulation-based methods, including digital twins and AI.
• Model concepts of operations and derive operating profiles for energy systems.
