Cognite is seeking a Principal Engineer focused on security and backend systems to design, implement, and secure core authentication and authorization services. You will scale gRPC/HTTP APIs and microservices on Kubernetes, drive backend innovation, and mentor teams to raise the bar for secure-by-default engineering across a fast-growing platform.

• Significant experience building and operating distributed backend systems in a modern, typed language.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin; deep expertise in authentication/authorization concepts (OIDC, OAuth2, RBAC/ABAC).
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, particularly Elasticsearch and cloud platforms like GCP, AWS or Azure.

Responsabilidades

• Architect and build core authentication and authorization services, protecting all customer data.
• Design and scale resilient gRPC/HTTP APIs and microservices on Kubernetes for high availability and low latency.
• Drive backend innovation with clean, maintainable code and scalable service architecture.
• Lead development initiatives including threat modeling, performance tuning, and reliability engineering.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate across teams to shape the technical roadmap.
