Job summary

Equinor is seeking a Principal Agentic AI Expert to shape how AI transforms the energy sector. You will lead the design and deployment of agentic AI solutions across engineering, geoscience, operations and business teams, guiding projects from concept to production.

You will work with large language models, AI agents, RAG, and multimodal AI, evaluating models and architectures to deliver real business value while mentoring colleagues and contributing to Equinor's AI community.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in operations research, applied mathematics, computer science, data science, control/automation, engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong practical experience with generative AI and modern language models.
• Proven ability to build and deploy AI solutions in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of advanced agentic AI solutions.
• Explore and apply emerging techniques in AI agents, reasoning systems, orchestration and multimodal AI.
• Work hands-on with large language models, retrieval systems, AI agents and enterprise integrations.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to bring solutions from idea to production.
• Evaluate models, frameworks and architectures, identifying what creates real business value.
• Help establish best practices for scalable, reliable and responsible AI.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to the growth of Equinor's AI community.
• Represent Equinor in external AI communities, conferences and collaborations when relevant.
