Job summary

Equinor is seeking a Data Scientist to build the next generation of AI-powered solutions in Bergen. You will design, deploy and test agentic AI systems, work with language models and collaboration with engineers, architects and business experts to deliver value.

This role sits at the intersection of data science, AI engineering and product development, offering opportunities to shape AI deployment across the company while upholding governance and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in operations research, applied mathematics, computer science, data science, control/automation, or engineering.
• Hands-on experience in data science, ML and AI deployment in production.
• Knowledge of modern language models, generative and Agentic AI.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Programming experience, preferably Python.
• Interest in emerging AI tech and willingness to learn.
• Nice to have LangGraph, MAF, CrewAI.
• Experience with Azure AI Foundry and Azure AI services.
• Focus on Responsible AI, model safety and governance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test agentic AI solutions.
• Develop prompting strategies, retrieval systems and evaluation approaches.
• Work with large language models and multimodel AI technologies.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects and business experts.
• Contribute to production deployment of AI solutions.
• Measure and improve solution performance, quality and user adoption.
• Help identify new opportunities where AI can create business value.
