Job summary

ABB is seeking a Power System Design Engineer to design and analyze power systems for industrial, offshore, subsea, and renewable energy projects. You will perform load flow and dynamic studies and develop protection and control philosophies.

We welcome MSc graduates and experienced engineers with a passion for the energy transition. English fluency is required; Norwegian is a plus, and ABB offers flexible working arrangements, including up to 60% remote work, based in Fornebu.

At ABB, you will join our Power System Design & Analysis Team, developing solutions for industrial electrification, offshore wind, hydrogen production, energy storage, and advanced subsea systems.

What You’ll Be Working On

Design and analyze power systems for industrial, offshore, subsea, and renewable energy projects

Perform load flow, short-circuit, harmonic, dynamic, and transient studies

Develop power system, protection, and control philosophies and ensure compliance with grid code requirements

Support customers and project teams with technical expertise throughout all project phases

Collaborate with project managers, suppliers, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning teams

Share knowledge and contribute to the continuous development of ABB's power systems expertise

Who Are We Looking For?

You bring:

MSc in Electrical Engineering or a related field. We welcome applications from both experienced engineers and recent graduates.

Experience with power system design and analysis

Interest in the energy transition and emerging technologies

Strong collaboration and communication skills

Fluency in English; Norwegian is an advantage

Experience from one or more of the following areas is beneficial:

Offshore wind

Hydrogen

Battery and energy storage systems

Microgrids and energy management systems

Offshore and subsea electrical systems
