Job summary

NTNU’s Department of Geography and Social Anthropology invites applications for a 3-year Postdoctoral Fellow position in Hydrology and Catchment Biogeochemistry. The project ANTIPASTI investigates how peatland restoration affects floods and aquatic carbon fluxes, with collaborations across Europe and beyond.

Office location is Trondheim, with potential visits to partner institutions. The successful candidate will conduct field investigations, modelling and data-driven analyses, publish results,

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Hydrology, Geoscience, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography or similar fields.
  • If in final phase, document that thesis has been submitted or defense date confirmed.
  • Previous research experience in hydrology, catchment biogeochemistry, peatland restoration or related fields.
  • Authored publications in peer-reviewed journals (also under review/submitted).
  • Interest in field-based research and affinity for the outdoors.
  • Curiosity and entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Fluency in English and good writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out high-quality scientific research.
  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Take responsibility for field research activities with PI.
  • Curate datasets for own research and publications.
  • Work on data-driven and modelling analyses of peatland hydrology and biogeochemistry.
  • Engage in scientific discussions and participate in the research group.
  • Participate in international conferences and research stays.
  • Co-supervise master and PhD students; manage research funding or development work.
