Job summary

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for a 3-year Postdoctoral Fellow position in process metallurgy/high-temperature material science. The successful candidate will study refractory metals thermodynamics and carbon-free alloy production, collaborating with SINTEF, industry and EU partners.

The role includes research, publications, mentoring, and teaching responsibilities, with strong emphasis on developing an international research profile.

Qualifications

  • You must have a PhD and experience in high temperature thermodynamic experiments and modelling using the commercial software FACTSage is required
  • Documented experience in building of specialized databases to be used for thermodynamic simulations based on acquired and published data is required.
  • Documented teaching experience
  • Excellent skills in written and oral English is compulsory.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out research of excellent quality
  • Academic publications and popular science dissemination
  • Participate in the process metallurgy and electrochemistry research group
  • Apply for research funding and write applications and report on progress to funding sources
  • Participate in international activities such as conferences and/or research stays at foreign educational institutions
  • Mentoring students, helping them with their research projects, and advising on methodology and academic writing
