Elastic is hiring a Software Engineer II for its Elastic Cloud Platform, supporting cloud services used to build and run software at scale. The role emphasizes shipping features, ownership of project components, and collaboration with engineers across the company.

You will work in a distributed, async-first environment, focusing on Go-based services, Kubernetes-based infrastructure, and major cloud providers. The position is fully remote with on-call responsibilities and a culture of learning.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience writing services in Go.
• Understanding Kubernetes fundamentals (Pods, Deployments, Services).
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Curiosity about distributed systems and how services communicate at scale.
• Ability to work autonomously in a distributed, async-first setting.

Responsibilities

• Build features and components for production services.
• Take ownership of well-scoped pieces of larger projects, from requirements through production.
• Propose technical solutions and bring them through to working code.
• Pair with senior engineers on harder problems and ask clarifying questions early.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions.
• Help operate the services we own and take part in the on-call rotation.
• Investigate incidents beyond the runbook and improve for the next person.
• Automate repetitive work through code.
• Communicate status and blockers early and often.
