Job summary

UiB invites applications for a 3-year PhD position in System Dynamics within the INTEGRATOR project at the Department of Geography, Bergen. The research fellow will contribute to participatory modeling and computer simulations for water governance and resilience.

We seek a Master in System Dynamics or related field with strong modeling and simulation skills, excellent quantitative abilities, and English fluency; knowledge of Spanish or Turkish is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with strong systems modeling focus.
• Grade B or better on the Master thesis or overall master, as applicable.
• Interest in socio-economic-hydrological scenario building; participatory modeling desirable.
• Strong quantitative and computational foundations.
• Teaching assistance experience is an advantage.
• Proficiency in English; Spanish/Turkish an advantage.
• Able to work independently and in a structured manner.
• Experience in multidisciplinary and multicultural research teams.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration desirable.
• Must be physically present in Bergen daily.

Responsibilities

• Use participatory system dynamics modelling and simulations to support INTEGRATOR WP3 and WP6.
• Engage in stakeholder mapping, problem co-definition, and scenario analysis.
• Contribute to site-specific digital twin development and integration.
• Collaborate across WPs to advance governance and water resilience objectives.
