Job summary

Universitetet i Bergen’s Department of Geography invites applications for a PhD position in System Dynamics within the INTEGRATOR project. The appointment is for three years, latest start date 1 April 2027, based in Bergen.

The successful candidate will conduct participatory system dynamics modelling and simulations to support WP3 and WP6, contributing to case studies in Ergene and Albufera and engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration within a strong research team.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in System Dynamics or another discipline with a strong system, modeling and simulation focus.
• Master thesis grade B or better; overall degree grade satisfactory.
• Interest in socio-economic-hydrological scenario building; participatory model-building desirable.
• Strong quantitative and computational foundations.
• Teaching assistance experience is an advantage.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English; Spanish/Turkish advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Use participatory system dynamics modeling and computer simulations to support INTEGRATOR WP3 and WP6.
• Contribute to Ergene and Albufera case studies through systems thinking and dynamic modeling.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary, multicultural research team and communicate results effectively.
