Job summary

Romulus Police Department seeks a Part-Time Transportation Assistant/Bus Driver to support senior services. Responsibilities include coordinating pick-ups, transporting seniors, and assisting with events at the Center and offsite.

A valid chauffeur’s license with passenger endorsement is preferred but not required; CDL Class B with passenger endorsement is acceptable. Ideal candidates will maintain schedules, handle mileage/fuel tracking, and provide courteous assistance to seniors.

Qualifications

  • Education: Possession of a high school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Experience: One year of related transportation experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A valid Chauffer’s and/or a CDL Class B with a passenger endorsement and the ability to operate a bus with airbrakes is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily and weekly pick up schedule.
  • Arrange for pick-up of clients.
  • Maintain drivers and substitutes schedules.
  • Assist in gathering information for outings and trips.
  • Provide detailed driving directions for outings and trips.
  • Must possess a good driving record and, minimally, a valid Michigan Chauffer license with Passenger endorsement and no airbrake restrictions.
  • Responsible for transportation of seniors to appointments and functions.
  • Provide door to door transportation operating a variety of City-owned buses.
  • Provide assistance to seniors on trips, and to and from residence.
  • Responsible vehicle refueling, fluids, and servicing.
  • Responsible for recording mileage, gas, etc.

Part-Time Transportation Assistant/ Bus Driver ($19-$20/hr)

Under the supervision of the Senior Services Director will help coordinate events in the Center and out of the Center (which will require set up and clean up), transportation to and from different destinations, tracking mileage and fuel consumption, caring to the needs of the Senior Citizens who utilize the Center’s facilities and programs, assist in serving during senior luncheons, dispensing information to individuals as needed, assisting in the publication of the newsletter, arranging programs, shopping, and many other tasks that may arise. Each employee will be asked to perform office duties while in the building as well as their specific tasks. Job descriptions may need to be changed due to programming changes, additions, deletions, and senior needs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
