Job summary

IKM Consultants AS in Stavanger seeks a Technical Safety Engineer to lead Functional Safety activities and SIL assessments, while designing Fire & Gas and ESD systems for offshore projects. You will develop evacuation plans and contribute to the safety envelope of complex facilities.

The role requires FEED/early study experience, offshore process safety knowledge, and proficiency with HAZOP/HAZID/LOPA/WHERA, plus strong Norwegian and English communication.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in Oil & Gas industry on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).
• Experience with FEED and early study projects is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of offshore process and process safety design.
• Experience conducting HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and WHERA.
• Good knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (NORSOK, PTIL, ISO, PSA, API).
• Strong communication skills in both Norwegian and English.

Responsibilities

• Perform Functional Safety Engineering (FSA) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) activities.
• Handle area classification and design of Fire and Gas (F&G) / Emergency Shut Down (ESD) systems.
• Develop plans for escape routes and evacuation means.
• Design active and passive fire protection (PFP) systems.
• Assess working environment factors (WHERA, chemical risk analysis, Human factors).
• Manage external environment assessments (BAT, environmental budgets, emissions, discharge to sea, chemical usage).
