Job summary

Community Concepts is seeking a Lead Preschool Teacher for our Head Start Classroom at the Norway Early Learning Center. The role is 40 hours per week and 38 weeks per year, with potential to extend up to 50 weeks. Starting pay ranges from $20.76 to $22.51 per hour depending on education and experience.

Salary Range: $20.67 To $22.50 Hourly

We are seeking an experienced, energetic Lead Preschool Teacher for our Head Start Classroom at our Norway Early Learning Center. This position is 40 hours and 38 weeks per year and up to 50 weeks as needed.

• Starting Pay Range: $20.76-$22.51/hour depending on education and experience
• This position is currently eligible for an additional monthly wage supplement through the State of Maine Early Childhood Educator Workforce Salary Supplement Program. The tiered supplements are currently in payments of $240, $360, or $540 monthly. Visit maine.gov/dhhs for more information.
• Lead a high-quality preschool classroom team
• Planning activities and tailoring curriculum to meet children’s social, emotional, physical, literacy, and cognitive development
• Communicating with and supporting families in meet their children’s and families’ needs
• Work with management to maintain Head Start Performance Standards and Licensing requirements

Desired Qualifications:

• Minimum of Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education required or a closely related field required
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum of three years of supervisory experience is preferred
• Minimum of five years of experience in early care and education is preferred

Other Requirements: Successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate others; ability to function autonomously and as part of a team; considerable stamina to regularly lift, bend, carry, and perform other high‑energy activities; competency with Microsoft Office; ability to obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. Pre‑employment physical, SBI, DMV, Maine Sex Offender Registry, DHHS fingerprinting, fraud, and federal debarment background checks must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of employment; valid driver’s license and travel within the service area is required.
