Job summary

Thor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead to support a major data centre project in Norway on an initial 9-month contract. You will lead and coordinate mechanical commissioning activities, supervise technicians and subcontractors, and ensure HVAC and cooling systems are installed, tested, and ready for handover.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on commissioning experience in data centres or similar environments, and the ability to work on a 2 weeks on / 1 week off

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Mechanical Commissioning Lead or similar leadership role.
• Extensive experience with data centre mechanical systems and HVAC.
• Experience leading technicians and subcontractors on site.
• Ability to read P&IDs and technical drawings.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day mechanical commissioning activities on the data centre project.
• Supervise technicians, subcontractors, and vendors safely and to standard.
• Plan pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing, and handover activities.
• Oversee HVAC, chillers, pumps, piping, valves, and cooling infrastructure.
• Ensure installations meet drawings, specs, and procedures.
• Review P&IDs and mechanical drawings.
• Coordinate system readiness reviews and identify outstanding works.
• Manage commissioning check sheets and records.
• Resolve commissioning issues with project teams.
• Coordinate with electrical, controls, and BMS disciplines.
• Monitor progress and escalate delays.
• Lead daily meetings and safety briefings.
• Support turnover and final handover to client.
