Job summary

Thor is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead a major data centre project in Norway on an 18-month contract. You will oversee commissioning across mechanical, electrical, controls, and BMS, coordinating with client, construction management, subcontractors, and specialist commissioning providers to ensure testing and handover readiness.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager or senior commissioning lead.
• Strong leadership with ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Solid understanding of commissioning lifecycle from pre-commissioning to handover.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements and permit-to-work procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee commissioning activities across the data centre project, ensuring delivery in line with the project programme and quality standards.
• Develop, implement, and manage the overall commissioning strategy, programme, and execution plan.
• Coordinate commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, controls, BMS, and other relevant disciplines.
• Lead and manage commissioning leads, engineers, technicians, subcontractors, and specialist vendors.
• Oversee pre-commissioning, functional testing, performance testing, IST, and final system handover.
• Ensure all building services and critical infrastructure systems are commissioned per approved procedures and design documentation.
• Coordinate commissioning schedules with construction, installation, quality, and project management teams to ensure readiness for testing.
• Monitor progress, identify risks/delays, and implement corrective actions where required.
• Manage commissioning documentation, including method statements, test scripts, and handover packs.
• Ensure defects and punch-list items are identified and resolved within agreed timescales.
