Job summary

Mastercard Payment Services in Oslo seeks an experienced Lead Software Engineer - Java who designs, builds, and operates secure, scalable payment applications. You will blend hands-on development with technical leadership and work with product, operations, architecture, and risk teams.

Responsibilities include owning design and delivery of services, driving automation, code quality, testing, and incident response.

Qualifications

Strong experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, and maintaining production software systems.
Good understanding of architecture patterns, system design, performance, resilience, and maintainability.
Experience with secure coding, code quality, code reviews, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Practical knowledge of automation, DevOps toolchains, cloud-native patterns, and service integration.
Experience building testing into delivery, including unit, functional, integration, regression, performance, resilience, and acceptance testing.
Ability to collaborate across teams, mentor engineers, and influence engineering practices.

Responsibilities

Design, build, integrate, and improve secure, scalable applications and services.
Take ownership of complex service issues and coordinate resolution across teams.
Work with product partners and stakeholders on priorities, trade-offs, and technical roadmaps.
Improve delivery quality through automation, code reviews, testing, scanning, and standard engineering practices.
Use incident learnings to strengthen stability, resilience, and continuous improvement.
Introduce new technologies and reusable patterns within enterprise guidelines.
