Job summary

Marc Daniels is seeking a Head of Group Financial Reporting for a market-leading private equity group. You will lead a qualified group finance team to deliver timely statutory and non-statutory reporting, ensure IFRS compliance and robust financial controls, and manage the external audit process.

You will drive technical accounting changes, oversee the annual report process and present to the board and Audit Committee, while coaching a skilled team through complex reporting challenges.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant (ICAEW/ACCA/ACCA or equivalent) and strong accounting qualifications.
  • Proven experience in group financial reporting within a large/complex group.
  • Experience managing group audits is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership in finance, driving improvements and change.
  • Proven people management with coaching and development track record.
  • Ability to communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail with large data sets.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Solid teamwork ethic across the organisation and with auditors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the statutory and external reporting processes for the group, including the Annual Report and interim filings.
  • Manage subsidiary statutory accounts preparation for all legal entities.
  • Ensure IFRS, Disclosure and Transparency compliance and Companies Act requirements.
  • Plan and manage annual and interim audit timetables with auditors.
  • Prepare board and Audit Committee papers for accounting policy changes and approvals.
  • Oversee Going Concern, Viability and Goodwill calculations across the group.
  • Coach and develop a statutory accounting team and drive transformation initiatives.
  • Lead IFRS changes and financial reporting policy implementations across the group.
  • Collaborate with tax and other functions on statutory accounts and related issues.

Job description

A market leading PE group experiencing significant growth via acquisition require a Head of Group Financial Reporting to lead a qualified group finance team. This role will take on overall accountability for managing and leading the group external financial reporting team to ensure all statutory and non-statutory reporting deadlines are met. You will ensure technical accounting compliance and a robust financial control framework to PE, board, audit committee and external audit requirements. You will also manage the presentation of all financial information in the Annual Report and manage the audit process.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the statutory financial reporting process in order to achieve accurate and timely external financial reporting (including the Group Annual Report, Full year RNS and Interims RNS).
  • Manage the production of subsidiary Statutory Accounts for all legal entities
  • Responsible for ensuring that external Group financial reporting complies with IFRS, Disclosure and Transparency rules and Companies Act requirements
  • Responsible for planning and execution of the annual and interims audit timetables and management of the auditors to ensure smooth, timely process
  • Responsible for preparing audit related papers for the Board and Audit Committee
  • Review of the models prepared by the divisions for areas of significant judgement
  • Oversee the preparation of the Going Concern, Viability Assessment and Goodwill models
  • Leadership, management and motivation of a team of Statutory Accountants
  • Responsible for the implementation of changes to IFRS across the Group
  • Preparation of board papers for consideration and approval of proposed new accounting policies by the Board
  • Project lead on legal structure rationalisation and finance transformation programs
  • Technical lead for acquisition accounting and support in the integration of newly acquired businesses and the impact on reporting
  • Responsible for ensuring best practice and quality adhered to for all external reporting requirements
  • Organisation and preparation of technical training for the wider finance function
  • Regular liaison with tax on statutory accounts and other issues
Requirements:
  • Qualified Accountant (ICAEW, ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Proven group financial reporting skills within a large/complex group
  • Experience of managing group audit is essential
  • Demonstrated leadership in the finance function, driving improvement and change
  • Experienced people manager with a proven record of coaching and developing a team
  • Ability to communicate confidently and with gravitas at all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with an ability to work with large volumes of data
  • Excellent at building relationships and influencing key stakeholders
  • Strong teamwork ethic, both within the organisation, and with key external stakeholders (e.g. auditors)
