About Energy Systems

We help customers navigate the complex transition to a decarbonized and more sustainable energy future. We do this by assuring that energy systems work safely and effectively, using solutions that are increasingly digital. We also help industries and governments to navigate the many complex, interrelated transitions taking place globally and regionally, in the energy industry.

About The Role
Are you ready to kickstart your career in DNV Energy Systems? We are seeking five Graduate Engineers to join our Subsea, Risers and Pipelines department in 2027!

The Subsea, Risers and Pipelines department provides technical assurance, advisory, verification, certification and asset integrity services to the global energy industry. We support offshore and subsea infrastructure throughout its lifecycle, from technology development, design and qualification to operation, recertification, life extension and decommissioning.

Our teams combine deep technical expertise with customer collaboration, research and development, digitalization, software development and the creation of internationally recognized standards.

We are looking for 5 young professionals who are ready to start their journey with us in August 2027.

What To Expect As a Graduate Engineer

As a Graduate Engineer, you will join one of our technical teams while also collaborating across the department and DNV’s international technical network.

Depending on your background, interests and team placement, you may:
  • Perform structural, mechanical, hydrodynamic or integrity analyses of offshore and subsea systems.
  • Review and verify technical documentation, calculations, specifications and engineering procedures.
  • Participate in advisory, verification, certification and recertification projects.
  • Assess inspection, maintenance and testing documentation against applicable standards and requirements.
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk-based assessments, integrity evaluations and life-extension studies.
  • Support the qualification of new technologies needed for the energy transition.
  • Apply advanced numerical analysis and engineering tools such as Abaqus, OrcaFlex, Riflex, Python, MATLAB or similar tools.
  • Participate in inspections, testing, audits and customer meetings.
  • Prepare technical reports, verification statements and project documentation.
  • Work directly with customers, suppliers, project managers and technical experts in Norway and internationally.
  • Contribute to research and development, joint industry projects, digital services, software products, codes and standards.

You will receive mentoring, technical training and practical project experience from the beginning. You will work with and learn from recognized specialists while gradually developing responsibility for your own technical work and customer interactions.

Our Technical Areas
  • Subsea, Drilling and Well

You may work with recertification and verification of subsea, drilling, well control and workover equipment, as well as asset integrity management, operational support, failure investigations and lifetime extension of offshore assets. The work combines technical analysis, documentation review, customer interaction and occasional field activities.

  • Risers and Cables

You may work with risers, well systems, umbilicals and cables subjected to structural and hydrodynamic loading. Projects can support offshore wind, oil and gas, floating energy systems and future energy infrastructure. The work may include advanced numerical modelling, structural mechanics, hydrodynamics, data analysis and digital tool development.

  • Pipelines

You may support the design, qualification, verification and integrity management of submarine pipeline systems. Projects include developments in Norway and internationally within oil and gas, carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and other emerging energy applications. You may also contribute to technical advisory services, research, training, software development and the continued development of industry standards.
