Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking a Geospatial Technical Data Specialist in Stavanger for a fixed-term contract from 28.09.2026 to 01.09.2027. You will deliver trusted geospatial data, maps and data packages to support offshore operations, surveys and regulatory reporting.

You will manage, analyse and quality-control spatial data, maintain workflows in ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and FME, and collaborate with users and data owners to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geospatial sciences, GIS, geomatics, surveying, geography, engineering, data management or another relevant discipline.
  • Relevant practical experience in managing, analysing, quality-controlling and visualising geospatial data.
  • Proficiency with ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro; understanding of coordinate reference systems and geospatial data formats.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise; FME, automation or scripting is a plus.
  • Experience from offshore operations, surveying, engineering or energy industry is advantageous.
  • Good English communication; Norwegian language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver trusted geospatial data, maps and data packages for offshore operations and regulatory reporting.
  • Manage, analyse and quality-control spatial data for completeness, positioning, structure and operational use.
  • Maintain and improve geospatial workflows using ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and FME.
  • Collaborate with users, data owners and survey specialists to clarify requirements and solve data issues.
  • Contribute to data models, standards, metadata, procedures and technical guidance.
  • Identify recurring needs and convert manual tasks into repeatable workflows.
  • Support users with troubleshooting and knowledge sharing.
  • Explore AI opportunities to streamline processes.
  • Prepare and quality-control maps, data packages and other deliverables for offshore projects.
  • Publish and transform data from internal/external sources; perform CRS checks and georeferencing.
  • Review metadata, symbology and services for compliance; submit geospatial info to authorities.
  • Maintain documentation, templates and user guides; evaluate new data sources.

Geospatial Technical Data Specialist

Contract period: 28.09.2026 - 01.09.2027

Location: Stavanger

Main tasks:
  • Deliver trusted geospatial data, maps and technical data packages that support offshore operations, projects, survey activities and regulatory reporting.
  • Manage, analyse and quality-control spatial data to ensure it is complete, correctly positioned, consistently structured and fit for operational use.
  • Maintain and improve operational geospatial work-flowsusing ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, FME and supporting automation tools.
  • Work closely with users, data owners, survey specialists and other technical disciplines to clarify requirements, resolve data issues and deliver practical solutions.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of geospatial data models, standards, symbology, meta-data, procedures and technical guidance.
  • Identify recurring operational needs and help convert manual activities into documented, repeatable and sustainable work-flows.
  • Support users and colleagues through troubleshooting, knowledge sharing, documentation and practical guidance.
  • Explore opportunities to use AI to improve and streamline day-to-day processes.
  • Typical tasks will include:
  • Prepare and quality-control maps, charts, data packages and other geospatial deliverables for offshore activities and projects.
  • Quality control, transform, integrate and publish data from internal systems, external providers, engineering and survey sources.
  • Perform coordinate reference system checks, transformations and georeferencing to ensure accurate positioning.
  • Review spatial data, metadata, symbology and services for compliance with agreed data models and business requirements, resolving any discrepancies identified.
  • Prepare and submit geospatial information to relevant authorities in accordance with applicable reporting requirements.
  • Maintain technical documentation, templates and user guidance, and support incoming geospatial requests.
  • Evaluate new data sources and workflow enhancements, contributing to standards and initiatives that improve data quality and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geospatial sciences, GIS, geomatics, surveying, geography, engineering, data management or another relevant discipline. Relevant practical experience may compensate for formal education.
  • Relevant experience in managing, analysing, quality-controlling and visualising geospatial data.
  • Practical experience with ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro, together with an understanding of coordinate reference systems, spatial data quality and common geospatial data formats.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise. FME, automation or scripting is an advantage.
  • Experience from offshore operations, surveying, engineering or the energy industry is an advantage.
  • Practical experience with use of Service Now and Azure Dev Ops is useful.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English; Norwegian language skills are an advantage.
