Job description

Join Huma as an experienced frontend developer.

ASAP

Ongoing

"Easy to use" used to mean fewer clicks in a nice wrapping. Now it's shifting towards a system that does the work for you. Join Huma as an experienced frontend developer and help build that, in a modern stack that is keeping up with the times.

Why should you join now?

A beautiful, simple-to-use web app has been our core identity and differentiator since day one. However, lately, we have realized what makes SaaS products simple-to-use is changing, which is incredibly cool!

Imagine logging in on Monday morning to find a draft of the equal pay report ready for you to look over, and the month-end closing of tracked hours almost done: just double-check two outliers and it can go to accounting. That’s where we’re taking Huma.

You would join as we have completed a lot of the heavy lifting of transitioning how we work towards continuous deployment, feature flagging, gradual rollout, automated testing ..., you get the point. And we have taken big steps from "finish my sentence" towards more agentic workflows. If these are directions you agree with, have opinions and experience with, you will thrive and absolutely impact where we end up.

About Huma

Huma is the HR system for everyone, not just the HR managers. We’re 36+ people across Norway, Sweden and Finland, serving Nordic companies who'd want painless HR so they can prioritize time with their people over, well, admin work ... An approach we dare to say has been very successful with 1,000+ customers (and by far the fastest growing HR tech company in Norway).

The Role

You'll join Crafters, our product, design and engineering team of 15, and report to our Head of Product & Engineering. We are organized in small autonomous product teams delivering what they believe will have the highest impact on their objectives.Your day to day is spent building with your team, and validating with customers and internal stakeholders like customer success.

What you’ll do
  • Buildexperiences where Huma acts on the user’s behalf, and where people can see what it did and why, so they trust it - while making Huma remain fun and unique ( ... not feel like Claude Design ...).
  • Deploy continuously, behind feature flags, either to hide an unfinished experience or to iterate with pilot customers.
  • Argue about what will actually move the key results, and change course when the answer comes back different.
  • Make the codebase agent-ready by implementingtests, type checks, hard rules, conventions written down, and skills that let an agent open the app, click through it and verify its own work.
  • People trust us with sensitive information about their working lives. Security and privacy are part of the work, not a review gate at the end.
We think you’ll thrive at Huma if you:
  • Have solid experience building and shipping real web applications with modern TypeScript and Node.js..
  • Have shipped small changes often and owned them in production.
  • Use agentic coding tools daily and have real opinions about their shortcomings, and are curious about why they exist and how to work around them.
  • Are motivated by being given an objective instead of a specification.
  • Have an eye for design and can tell the difference between "it works" and "it's good".
It is not a requirement, but we think you’re a great match if you:
  • Have worked with Node.js, Vite, Vitest, Playwright or OpenAPI (and generated clients from it).
  • Have worked with feature flags and gradual rollouts.
  • Have some backend experience, or want to get it.
  • Have built the scaffolding around agents (skills, MCP servers, agents in CI, evals, linters ...).
  • Have built frontend test coverage.

You do not need HR experience. Almost nobody arrives with it ... we actually started Huma without any.

What we offer
  • We’d expect our way of building to look different in six months, and we’d expect you to be one of the reasons.
  • What you build this week should be in front of pilot customers next week.
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and the possibility to invest in Huma through our employee share programme.
  • A scale-up backed by leading Nordic investors, past the chaotic-start phase, but with just as much speed.
  • Flexibility and trust: we care about results, not micromanagement.
Culture

We’re built on trust, challenging each other, and having fun while we do it. We’re an international team and English is our working language. Every quarter we get together for T-time to celebrate the milestones. We’re not looking for someone who knows everything already - motivation and curiosity beat credentials here.
