Levato, a Norwegian defence-technology company building VANTAGE, is seeking a frontend engineer to shape the interface used by military planners and AI researchers. You will join a close-knit team that values clarity, performance, and trust in what is delivered to operations across NATO-aligned partners.
Using React and TypeScript, you will craft fast, data-rich web apps, integrate REST and live data streams, and collaborate with simulation engineers to turn complex models into intuitive tools
Shape the interface through which military commanders explore the future battlefield.
The VANTAGE frontend is the point where complex operational data becomes human-readable insight — where a commander decides which course of action to take. You will own that experience. Working closely with our simulation engineers and end-users in active military organisations, you will design and build interfaces that are fast, intuitive, and powerful enough to handle multi-domain operational environments at scale.
This is not a typical frontend role. Your users are military planners, naval officers, and AI researchers. Clarity, performance, and trust are the design constraints — not aesthetics alone.
Essential: Strong proficiency in React and modern TypeScript. Experience building complex, data‑rich web applications. Solid understanding of REST API consumption and real‑time data patterns.
A strong plus: Experience with mapping or geospatial visualisation libraries. Interest in simulation, gaming engines, or data‑heavy dashboards. Any background in defence, security, or mission‑critical software.
Who you are: You care about the end‑user experience deeply. You are comfortable working with ambiguous requirements from non‑technical users and translating them into clean, precise implementations. You want your work to have real‑world impact.
