Job summary

DEFA, an international technology company, is seeking an Embedded Developer to contribute to its E-Mobility R&D team. You will develop embedded software powering charging and energy management solutions and collaborate with software, hardware, testing and systems engineering colleagues.

The role is office-based at DEFA’s Slependen office, west of Oslo. You will participate across the full development lifecycle, from architecture to testing, debugging and continuous improvement, delivering robust

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Software Engineering, CS or related field.
• Experience in embedded software development.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience with Python, Bash or similar scripting.
• Knowledge of Linux/Yocto is advantageous.
• Familiarity with CI/CD environments is beneficial.
• Professional English required; Scandinavian languages advantageous.
• Experience across automotive/telecom/industrial environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded software primarily in C/C++.
• Implement low-level firmware, drivers and software interacting directly with hardware.
• Perform testing, debugging and troubleshooting using emulators, debuggers and HW-in-loop environments.
• Contribute to software architecture, design and technical decision-making.
• Optimize software performance, memory usage, processing speed and energy efficiency.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including design and API documentation.
• Participate in continuous improvement of development tools, processes and code quality.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers and system specialists throughout the development lifecycle.
