Rubino Rekrytering AB is seeking an Embedded Hardware Engineer to join DEFA’s E-Mobility R&D team in Asker, Norway. In this role, you will be responsible for the hardware design of embedded systems throughout the entire product lifecycle. We are now looking for an Embedded Hardware Engineer to join DEFA’s E-Mobility R&D team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of next-generation charging and energy management solutions that support the ongoing electrification of society.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for the hardware design of embedded systems throughout the entire product lifecycle – from concept and prototyping to industrialization and production support.

You will work closely with embedded software developers, system engineers and product teams in a highly collaborative engineering environment. Together, you will develop innovative products that combine advanced electronics, software and user-friendly design.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine hands‑on hardware development with long‑term product ownership. As DEFA continues to strengthen its in‑house hardware development capabilities, you will play an important role in shaping future product development and building long‑term engineering expertise within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded hardware solutions for DEFA’s E-Mobility products.
• Create schematics and contribute to PCB design, layout and hardware architecture.
• Select components such as microcontrollers, processors, sensors and communication interfaces.
• Perform simulation, testing, validation and debugging of electronic systems and prototypes.
• Drive hardware verification activities, including EMC and regulatory compliance.
• Support industrialization, production and product lifecycle management activities.
• Collaborate closely with software developers, system engineers, mechanical engineers and external partners.
• Maintain technical documentation including schematics, BOMs, specifications and test reports.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of products, processes and development methods.

Your Background

• Higher education in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in embedded hardware development and electronics design.
• Experience with schematic design and PCB development.
• Knowledge of testing, validation and troubleshooting of electronic systems.
• Experience working with embedded products throughout the product lifecycle.
• Familiarity with EMC, regulatory requirements and industrialization processes.
• Experience with CAD tools such as Altium, Cadence, OrCAD, KiCad or similar.
• Professional working proficiency in English is required. Scandinavian language skills are considered an advantage.

Experience from EV charging, power electronics, automotive, industrial electronics or other technically advanced product environments is considered an advantage.

Experience with embedded firmware or software development in C/C++, Python or scripting languages is also considered beneficial.
