Job summary

Basta in Oslo, part of Urban Italian Group, is seeking a hands‑on Sous Chef to work with the Head Chef to maintain organisation, consistency and strong performance during busy service. You will support the team, uphold quality and standards, and lead in the Head Chef's absence.

Qualifications

• Experience as Sous Chef in a high‑volume restaurant kitchen.
• Strong leadership and team supporting skills.
• Attention to food quality, prep, presentation and standards.

Responsibilities

• Support food preparation, production and service across the kitchen.
• Ensure dishes are prepared and presented to recipe and quality standards.
• Monitor food quality during service and correct issues as needed.
• Support, train and coach BOH team members.
• Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence when required.
• Assist with ordering, stock control, waste management and food cost awareness.
• Maintain hygiene, health & safety and kitchen compliance standards.
