Job summary

Hurtigruten seeks an experienced Director of IT Operations to lead a cross-functional team in Oslo and drive the strategy for reliable, secure, and scalable technology services across shore-based and onboard operations.

You will set the operating model, empower teams, manage key technology partners, and continuously improve IT capabilities to support Hurtigruten’s growth and transformation.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in a relevant field required.
• 8+ years of progressive IT experience.
• 3+ years in a senior IT operations or technology leadership role.
• Experience leading technical teams and complex IT environments.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, cloud, networks and IT service management.
• Experience managing IT budgets, vendors and contracts.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive change.
• Knowledge of risk management and business continuity.

Responsibilities

• Lead IT Operations as an integrated service organization across shore and ship environments.
• Develop and execute the IT Operations strategy, roadmap and operating model.
• Build and develop the IT Operations team and partnerships with technology vendors.
• Establish and improve IT service management practices (service desk, incident, change, release).
• Oversee infrastructure, networks, cloud platforms, and identity services.
• Monitor performance with data and metrics; drive continuous improvement.
• Own IT Operations budget and relationships with senior leaders.

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Director of IT Operations to join our Hurtigruten office in Oslo at an exciting time of transformation and growth.

Reporting to the Chief Transformation & Technology Officer, you will be part of our newly established Transformation & Technology department. The department is responsible fordriving aligned and effective transformation across Hurtigruten through enterprise-wide portfolio governance, shared technology direction and governance, and secure, resilient IT operations.

As Director of IT Operations, you will lead a team of experienced IT professionals and oversee the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable technology services across our shore-based and onboard operations. You will set the strategic direction for IT Operations, establish a high-performing operating model, develop and empower talented teams, manage key technology partners, and continuously improve the organizations IT capabilities.

What you'll be responsible for

• Lead IT Operations as an integrated service organization, accountable for reliable, secure, resilient and cost-effective technology and services across shore and ship environments, with a strong end-user focus.
• Develop and execute the IT Operations strategy, operating model and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and transformation objectives.
• Build, support and develop the IT Operations team, fostering accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Establish and continuously improve IT service management practices, including service desk operations, incident, problem, change and release management.
• Oversee infrastructure, networks, cloud platforms, workplace technology, identity services and core operational platforms.
• Monitor operational performance and service quality, driving continuous improvement through data, metrics and improvement actions.
• Partner with the Head of Cyber Security to implement and operate security controls, manage operational risks and ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
• Own backup, disaster recovery and IT resilience capabilities, supporting wider business continuity objectives across the organisation.
• Manage strategic suppliers, contracts and service partners, ensuring strong service delivery, commercial value and appropriate risk management.
• Own the IT Operations budget, ensuring effective planning, forecasting and cost control.
• Build strong relationships with senior leaders and business stakeholders to ensure technology services effectively support operational and strategic goals.

You will bring:

• Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive IT experience.
• 3+ years in a senior IT operations, infrastructure, service delivery, or technology leadership role.
• Experience managing technical teams and complex IT environments.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, cloud technologies, networking, systems, and IT service management.
• Business acmuen, experience managing IT budgets, vendors, contracts, and service providers.
• Demonstrated experience in operational risk and business continuity.
• The ability to influence stakeholders, lead through change, and translate business priorities into technology outcomes.
