Commodities and Energy Trading practice is looking for an experienced Director to join our Nordics practice and lead the growth of our Commodities & Energy Trading business in Norway.

We have recently established a Nordic Commodities & Energy Trading practice, headquartered in Copenhagen, and are investing in expanding Baringa's presence across Scandinavia. Baringa's Commodities & Energy Trading practice is one of the leading specialist advisory teams serving commodity and energy trading organisations globally. We work with major commodity traders, integrated energy companies, utilities, asset-backed traders, producers and infrastructure operators across Europe, North America and Asia.

As we continue to grow across the Nordics, we are looking for a Director to play a leading role in building our Norwegian business. What you will be doing

As a Director within our Commodities & Energy Trading practice, you will be responsible for driving growth, deepening client relationships and leading some of our most complex and strategically important engagements.

You Will Work Closely With Senior Leaders Across Our European Business To Shape Our Strategy In Norway And Build a Market-leading Advisory Presence. As a Member Of The Leadership Team You Will

  • Lead client and market development:
    • Build trusted relationships with senior executives across commodity and energy trading organisations, driving account growth and long‑term partnerships.
    • Identify and convert new business opportunities while representing Baringa in the market through thought leadership and industry engagement.
  • Drive strategic consulting engagements:
    • Lead complex transformation programmes and advisory engagements, helping clients navigate business, technology and operating model change.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, delivering impactful outcomes through multidisciplinary teams.
  • Build and grow our Nordic practice:
    • Drive the growth of Baringa's Commodities & Energy Trading business in Norway, contributing to market strategy, proposition development and business expansion.
    • Collaborate across our European and global network to bring leading capabilities and innovative solutions to clients.
  • Develop our people:
    • Recruit, mentor and develop high‑performing consultants, helping to build the next generation of leaders.
    • Foster an inclusive, collaborative and high‑performing culture that supports the continued growth of our Nordic practice.
Your Skills And Experience

We are looking for an established consulting leader with a strong track record of business development, executive stakeholder management and successful delivery within commodity and energy trading environments.

You will likely bring a combination of consulting experience, industry expertise and commercial leadership gained within a leading consulting firm or a major commodity or energy trading organisation.

We would expect experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Power Trading & Energy Markets
  • LNG, Gas & Clean Fuels
  • Oil & Commodities Trading
  • Freight & Shipping
  • Trading Technology & ETRM/CTRM Transformation
  • Risk Management & Trading Controls
  • Trading Operating Models & Business Transformation
In addition, Successful Candidates Will Demonstrate
  • Proven Business Development Capability: A track record of developing senior client relationships, generating revenue opportunities and contributing to sustained consulting business growth.
  • Account Leadership: Experience developing strategic client accounts and generating sustainable consulting growth.
  • Executive Stakeholder Leadership: Experience building trusted relationships with senior leaders and advising executive-level stakeholders on strategic challenges and transformation programmes.
  • Consulting and Delivery Excellence: A strong record of leading large‑scale transformation programmes and managing multi-disciplinary delivery teams within client-facing environments.
  • Market Credibility: An established network and strong market credibility within the Norwegian and wider Nordic commodity and energy trading ecosystem.
  • Team Leadership: Experience recruiting, mentoring and developing consulting talent while contributing to a high-performance culture.
